Justin Sebastian was born in Melbourne, Australia. Completing his bachelors degree in film at Deakin University, he immediately went on to shoot independent feature “How to Time Travel”. The film won an award for best cinematography and best guerilla feature at the 2015 Madrid international Film Festival.
Since moving to Vancouver, Canada, Justin has continued his career with high achievement. Being nominated for his cinematography two years running at the 2023 and 2024 Leo Awards and becoming an Associate Canadian Society of Cinematographers member.
Justin recently lensed the award winning feature film “Hunting Matthew Nichols” premiering at the 2024 Newport Beach Film Festival and screening at Whistler Film Festival later this year. He was also 2nd Unit director of photography on feature film “Bau: Artist at War”
Justin’s passion lies in using the camera, lighting and clever blocking to elevate the words on a page to new levels. He works extremely close with the director, striving for a visual simplicity that drives the narrative forward.
Justin has the ability to work in Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom.
